For the past several years, Larry and Tara have shared their talent and love of music with the Veterans at Parkwood Institute in a variety of ways. They have performed on our big stage for large crowds, provided background music during special meals and barbeques or have gone directly onto the Veteran units and entertained the Veterans in a smaller, more intimate setting. Larry and Tara have established relationships with many of the Veterans, remembering their favourite songs and connecting with them throughout their performance. If there is a special request from a Veteran that the duo does not know, they will do their homework and learn that song for their next performance. The Veterans look forward to hearing Larry and Tara, often requesting them to return. They are one of our most reliable and sought after groups that we hire, therefore are booked on a regular basis. Music is especially meaningful within the Dementia Care population. Larry and Tara are very comfortable in this environment and are often scheduled during evening and weekend times when the Veterans would benefit most from musical stimuli. Seeing the Veterans singing, tapping their toes, whistling or even dancing endorses the powerful affect music has for this population. Larry and Tara are a very talented musical team. They are sure to enhance the well-being of your residents through their love of music.
